TMDP CONTEST - Rollin' & Scratchin'

TMDP CONTEST

There’s no question that over the last six months, hometown disco threats, TMDP, have sort of become the poster boys of Toronto’s live electronic scene.  Now with the release of their debut album, they’ve permanently left their footprint on the Canadian music scene.

We’re only two days away from TMDP’s Record Release Party for Rollin’ and Scratchin’s March edition, so to help mark this event, we thought it might be fun to host a TMDP contest for a YYZ Records Prize Pack including: a pair of tickets to the TMDP show this Friday at the Supermarket in Toronto, a copy of TMDP’s debut CD, and a YYZ Records T-shirt as seen on the label myspace.

All you have to do is come up with a short description of the first time you heard TMDP.  How did it make you feel?  Did you cry, did you laugh uncontrollably into hysteria, or did you rip off all of you clothes and run through the streets naked?  You decide.  The most hilarious/clever story will win.  Place your shorts in the comments box below for your chance to win this dope prize pack courtesy of YYZ Records and TMDP.

And to give you a little taste of what’s to come on Friday, check out the lead track from TMDP’s album, “Glades“.

Glades – TMDP

  1. YOOOO! TMDP IS THE BEST!!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR FRIDAY NIGHT!!! YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

  2. Woops, didn’t realize i had to have a story. here it is. the first time i saw tmdp, i turned into a camel (1 hump, not 2). no shit. i turned into a huge camel. i stopped being able to speak and could only make camel noises like grunting, spitting, drooling and EYAAAA-ing. i stepped on someone’s foot and she threw a drink at me. i felt bad so i gave her a ride on my camel hump. my lovely lady lumps. uh huh uh huh uh hun. my lovely camel lump. she felt much better afterwards. we listened to the rest of their show and fell in love to their beautiful music. when the show was over, i turned back into a human and she threw another drink on me. then she said she only loved me while i was a camel and while that sweet sweet music played. so, now i keep going to the shows just hoping and praying that she’ll be there, and that TMDP will turn me into a camel again.
    the end.

  3. I already had a story. It’s been posted here on last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/Cloverbell/journal/2008/03/24/3vdt_%2523118_–_they_really_should_lock_up_dufferin_mall_at_night...

  4. i was in the mood for some good luvin so i went to my girl’s house. i queued up my “shooting stars by bag raiders” radio station on pandora and got to makin some magic. soon, things are gettin crazy! (shooting stars always gets her ;] )
so now im up to bat and about to give her the performance of a lifetime…the shooting stars song ends and i wait for my song to queue me in (whatever it may be since it’s pandora). a smooth synthesizer pad fills my ears, followed by electronic hats that prelude to the thick and warm electronic bass that immediately starts pumpin. i start pumpin. before i know it, the bassline in Glades by TMDP isn’t the only thick and warm thing around. i was embarrassed yet excited at the same time. i apologized to my girl and quickly drove home to download the song i just heard.
