The New Deal Contest: 10 Year Anniversary

Many who read this site may not be familiar with a progressive electro breakbeat house trio called The New Deal. Well, after a decade of heavy touring and making music together, prepare yourself to be educated. You may be familiar with bass player, Dan Kurtz’s side project with his wife Martina Sobrara, Dragonette. When we saw the hiatus of TND and the emergence of an electro pop wielding Dragonette, fans became a little worried that this could be the end of the live-tronic jam band we’ve all ruined our favourite t-shirt for.

Thankfully, with 9 records and over 600 shows under their belt, TND isn’t about to stop. This Saturday at Lee’s Palace, The New Deal returns to celebrate their 10th Anniversary with a recorded live performance to be released later this year. Lucky for YOU, Emerge Entertainment and the boys in the band have been kind enough to offer up a New Deal Prize Pack including a pair of tickets to Saturday’s show, and a couple of autographed limited edition copies of their latest studio record, ‘Gone, Gone, Gone’ and their debut release ‘This Is Live’

All you have to do is write a comment below about your first New Deal experience (make one up if you’ve never seen them), and we’ll pick our favourite on Friday evening. As always, you must be 19+, leave a valid email address, and your full name. See you on the dance floor!

The New Deal – Tomorrow Tomorrow (Live: NYC 05.31.02 / 06.01.02)

  1. I think i was about 18. It was the night of my 19th birthday, and double fisting g & t’s never seemed so right. I danced all night, and went home to a screaming mother and an overzealous pet dog. But i couldn’t have had a better time.

Damn, i wish i remembered more about it.

  2. yea yea yea. I need those tickets.

First time I saw these cats I got naked on the dancefloor!

  3. Best New Deal experience was their Canada day show dancing my face off and still being able to make eye contact with Darren, Dan and Jamie.

The other great experience was just listening to Late Night for the first time. Best going somewhere album ever.
