Rollin’ & Scratchin’

Summer may be at it’s end, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have a little fun listening to sunshine music. Terry Lynn is a bright new star making an impact on the whole ragga-rap, baile sound that’s been sweeping the dance world for the last few years.

I first heard Terry Lynn after seeing her sign to Last Gang Records here in Toronto. I couldn’t really put the two together, as Last Gang has been made famous by genre-bending, not so conscious, party music. Miss Lynn, on the other hand has made a name for herself by rapping politically and culturally specific music to the tiny island of Jamaica. Just check out the visually stunning slide show video for her first single, ‘Kingstonlogic’. The music is great, but not so overpowering that it drowns out the message. Terry Lynn is going to be a star. Heads up for her album drop on September 23rd.
