Ooh Look at Etienne… - Rollin' & Scratchin'

Ooh Look at Etienne…

Etienne de Crecy may not be the first artist on your playlist, but he can be name-dropped with a tight crew.

Having gone to school with the likes of Air and Alex Gopher, Etienne worked in studios alongside Cassius and is no stranger to some of the biggest names in electronic music.

Now, with a few releases under his belt and some mighty fine remix work, Etienne can start getting some more recognition on this side of the pond. Have a listen.

Am I Wrong – Etienne de Crecy

Still not convinced? How about this video of his live show in 2008.

Light show look familiar?

Remind anyone of a certain, dynamic french duo?

Enjoy mademoiselles!

  1. I’m not sure how you’re making the connection – Daft Punk didn’t use any projection-mapped visuals in their live show. And there’s not a pyramid in sight. While Daft Punk’s light-show was absolutely amazing, this is an altogether more clever and fantastic set-up. So much so that it was ripped off by The Killers at the MTV awards last week (YouTube it).

  2. Thanks for the comment JackAttack. I can’t speak for Brian but I think what he was getting at was that the use of linear lighting, geometric shapes, and putting the performers inside these elevated stages is similar to the Daft Punk pyramid from their Alive show. Yes, there are differences but the similarities are surely undeniable. I doubt anyone is ripping off anyone and it may simply be a way to pay homage to pioneering thinkers while providing their own take on the matter. We live in a remix culture and sometimes it may be better to appreciate the whole spectrum of the creative output of artists rather than focusing on what divides us/them.

  3. Actually the guys who designed the Daft Punk pyramid also designed Etienne’s cube. And i personally think they have lot’s of things in common, besides their designers

  4. F%$K!!! Who cares….ITS $ICK!!!!
