Rollin’ & Scratchin’

Of Montreal are one of those ‘Pitchfork Bands‘ that I’ve learned to become weary of.  For one thing, pitchfork only seems to award good reviews to bands that they can pride themselves on predicting that they’ll be ‘the next big thing’.  I’m talking about the Deerhunter’s, Animal Collective’s, and Panda Bear’s.  Don’t get me wrong, I love all those groups, but when PF seems to go out of it’s way to be different by giving a great album a bad review, I tend to be a little cautious about what I select to listen to based on their reviews.

That being said, I never really gave Of Montreal a chance because PF seemed to tirelessly favour them.  But surprise, surprise….when they came out with their latest album ‘Skeletal Lamping, PF trashed them.  I mean you can’t have too much of a good thing right?  Never the less, I just listened to the new album and it’s awesome.  It’s a great marriage between psychedlia and disco that seems to be trendy these days.  Just check out this remix of their track, ‘Gallery Piece’ by Minitel Rose.
