New MSTRKRFT - Rollin' & Scratchin'

New MSTRKRFT

Perhaps I’m overly excited about the 2 new MSTRKRFT records that have made their round on Hype Machine today but I’m not gonna lie – Bounce was disappointing.  There, I said it.  However, the 84,291 (give or take a couple) remixes that came as a result made it all better.

These 2 new tracks – It Ain’t Love (featuring RnB songstress Lil Mo) and Breakaway (featuring Jahmal from The Carps) both have sounds reminiscent of The Looks, but manage to take it in a new direction.  Not to mention their choice in featured vocals are spot on.  I would’ve never guessed that Lil Mo would sound so at-home on a MSTRKRFT track.

Fist of God can’t come soon enough…

  1. Haha I was going to make the same post but with a little different tone. I’m pretty dissapointed by these songs. Let’s hope they grow on me.

  2. I don’t think that they’ve got the banger status as any other past MSTRKRFT tracks just yet, but I’m certainly enjoying them. Give ‘em some time, yo.

  3. Bounce still beats both of these tracks.

Seb, why you hate on N.O.R.E.?

  4. I must say, it’s not exactly hard to hate on N.O.R.E. He’s had a career of disappointments and underachievers. Listen to “Invincible” off the Reunion (Capone-N-Noreaga)…nasty beat from Premier; rapping is shit.

That being said, I loved Bounce but it could have been any rapper on there. It has an amazing beat and production, but like Invincible, just so-so rapping.

I like these tracks but they are definitely not banger status. I would be surprised if I start hearing either of these from any of the A.D.D. “DJs” who launch hostile takeovers on my itunes while I’m having a predrink.

  5. [...] impressed by the two 2 songs.  The R&S crew was at Elixir last week and it was a bomb time! Here is their [...]

  6. These songs seem more club like then mstrkrft’s original stuff

  7. *revisits Bounce …*

nope, still like these better :)
