MADRID - BAM BAM BROTHER (ESTATE REMIX) - Rollin' & Scratchin'

MADRID

MADRID

We are very pleased to present to you some more hotness from our home town.  MADRID is an electro psych-pop duo from Toronto who have often been compared to the likes of M83, Air, The Flaming Lips, and Boards of Canada.  I know, I know, those are pretty big names to size up to, but Duncan Christie and Adam Perry have nothing to worry about.  They’ve crafted a sound that is entirely their own.

Their debut album, ‘Warm Waters’, was released in 2004 to critcal acclaim, being touted by BBC Radio as the ‘indie record that Boards of Canada never made’.  Six years later, their follow up will be released on YYZ Records in late 2009.  But enough of the hype talk from us, we’ll let you be the judge as we share something we truly dig.  Here’s the first remix from their new album as remixed by Minneapolis’ Estate.

And for all you visual buffs out there, ESTATE was kind enough to send us a video they clipped together of MADRID playing way back in the early 80’s to this track.  Can you say, “Short Longs????”  Keep you eye out for more MADRID + Estate collaborations in the near future.

MADRID will be opening for M83 Friday July 17th at Phoenix Concert Theatre
