Happy Monday: News This Week

Happy Monday

It’s that time of week again.  From the Ryder boys and R$S to you, HAPPY MONDAY everyone!

Starting today, we’re going to try and keep people updated on what’s new and what to look out for in a short little Happy Monday inspired news feed.  If you have news tips that you think we might dig, then please email them to contact@rollinandscratchin.com

1) This week we caught wind that Radiohead is in the process of recording a new album!  Those of you loyal readers will know that this is scratchin’ us right where we itch.

2) Last week it was announced that this year’s installment of the Toronto Island Festival annually hosted by Broken Social Scene has been canceled.  To perform were, BSS, Apostle of Hustle, Thunderheist, Explosions In The Sky, and Beach House.  Is it possible that BSS are loosing their edge?  Do people care anymore?  Where’s the heavy hitting headliner draw?  Too many questions to answer I guess.

3) Jay-Z has confirmed this week that after signing a $150 million exclusive deal with Live Nation, that he will no longer be releasing records on Def Jam.  Something tells us this will be a touchy subject for a while to come.

4) Last week we also caught wind that after the highly anticipated Blur performances in the UK this summer, we just might see Damon Albarn and co. make the trek across the pond for some North American shows.  Fingers crossed.

5) Lastly – but certainly not least – Simian Mobile Disco has graced is with another track from their forthcoming album, ‘Temporary Pleasure’.  Check out the beautifully minimal, ‘Audacity of Huge’ featuring Yeasayer’s Chris Keating on vocals.
