Rollin’ & Scratchin’

With NXNE this week, there’s tonnes of great shows to look out for in our fine city.  The first of many is Esser’s Canadian debut at Wrongbar this Wednesday.  I first heard of this cat on the Soulwax ‘Part of the Weekend Never Dies NYE’ MixMag compilation CD.  His song ‘Headlock’ immediately caught my ear as one of those cross over songs that would blow up with it’s catchy hook and unique production.

After listening to his album, you’ll be pleasant surprised at the wide variety of samples and styles.  There’s a bit of classical, a bit of salsa, some jazz, and a sprinkle of electro.  All mashed together makes for a good listen, but it will certainly be interesting to see how he pulls it off live.  Check out a Headlock and a few remix tracks from Esser’s debut album, ‘Braveface’.  The hot one is from our boy Egyptrixx who flips this upside down on some dub step shit!
