Rollin’ & Scratchin’

Well, every music blog in the world is writing about the same thing right now, and that’s the release of Calvin Harris’ sophomore album, Ready For The Weekend.  When Mr. Disco himself came out of Dumfries, Scotland in 2007 with his confidently titled i Created Disco, he took the dance pop world by storm, putting the cool back in popular format club music.

When the lead single ‘I’m Not Alone’ was released around the same time as WMC back in March, anticipation was riding high all over the globe for what promised to be a fresh perspective on the modern dance charts.  Boy were we right!!!!  The more accessible Ready For The Weekend is a tripod with one foot in the 70’s, one in an electro club, and the other at a stadium trance show.  All types of sounds and flavours make up this more lyrical album.  Check out the opener track, ‘Rain’ for what’s the best example of all of the above.  This will be on many year end lists without a doubt!
